Background
Alissa Cherry holds an MLIS from the University of British Columbia (UBC), is a member of the Academy of Certified Archivists, and has over 20 years of experience managing information in specialized libraries, archives, and museums. Alissa was librarian in Yellowstone National Park for six years, worked for both X̱wi7x̱wa Library and the BC Aboriginal Child Care Society, and managed the Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs Resource Centre for nine years. Since 2014, she has been the Research Manager at the Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at UBC.
Current Role and Responsibilities
As Research Manager, Alissa oversees the management of the library, archives, and digital assets at MOA. She also coordinates records management activities throughout the institution. Alissa has overseen numerous digitization projects over the years and contributes to the Indigitization Steering Committee by drawing on her experience digitizing Indigenous collections, and through both training and testing done at MOA.
